Peugeot’s new 125cc Maxi Scooter focuses on ingenuity to enhance performance

Peugeot have consistently topped the UK sales charts with their 50 and 100cc scooters and the French Company’s new Satelis will set new standards in the competitive maxi scooter market.

Their in-house team have utilised their experience in automotive design to create a scooter that borrows 4-wheel technology to deliver maximum performance, features and functionality.

The shape of the Satelis is aerodynamically engineered for the best drag coefficient on the market (0.42) with consequent benefits for performance and fuel economy. Its aspherical rear view mirrors provide the widest angle vision (16/9) while the dual halogen headlights (as used in the Peugeot 407 car) provide 30% more light on high beam.

Beneath the bodywork Peugeot have drawn on a century of experience in motorcycle manufacture. The high tensile steel dual cradle chassis and beefy 37mm front forks give accurate and consistent handling, even when the potent 260mm front disc brake is applied.

The modern 4-stroke liquid cooled 4-valve motor develops the maximum permitted power for a 125cc learner machine (15bhp), delivered via automatic twist & go transmission. For maximum convenience, a range of 380km (235 miles) should be possible thanks to the high capacity fuel tank that is positioned lower to ensure exemplary stability and handling.

However, it is in terms of comfort and convenience that most riders will measure the benefits of Satelis ownership. Its low seat height (784mm) and ergonomic riding position ensure safe and easy handling for a wide variety of people. The fully equipped instrument panel with LCD display means that journey information is easily viewed and there is even a 12V power socket for mobile ‘phone, satellite navigation, etc.

Carrying capacity has also been maximised. The generous seat will carry rider and passenger in comfort, there is a glove compartment by the dash board capable of holding a litre size bottle of water and beneath the seat is a cavernous storage bay. The entire seat and tail light unit lifts, using an opening mechanism with a hydraulic jack, similar to those used on cars, providing access to enough space for two full face helmets or even a pair of tennis rackets!

The Peugeot Satelis is available in metallic silver and metallic black and offers maximum form and function for the minimal price of £2,599 on the road. The Executive version, equipped with anti-lock ABS/PBS braking system, costs £2,999 OTR. Like all Peugeot scooters, the Satelis has a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty for peace of mind.
