REVIEW: KAWASAKI KX450F

Hard-Hitting 4-Stroke Power. High-Flying 2-Stroke Weight

Serious about racing? Throw a leg over the new KX450F and blast your way to the front of the pack.

The all-new motor hits hard from down low and kicks out heaps of high-traction power. A new perimeter aluminium frame with race-tuned suspension keeps you hooked up and accelerating hard.

And trick bits like petal discs and titanium footpegs give the KX450F the edge when a tenth of a second per lap means the difference between winning and losing.

FEATURES

Petal Disc Brakes

Stopping power! Petal brake disc with special wave shapes help keep pads cleaner so you get maximum braking power all moto long.

Front Suspension

Holding the inside line is easy with the new 48 mm Kayaba AOS (Air-Oil-Separate) fork. Fully adjustable, it lets you tune the suspension to suit track conditions.

Frame & Rear Suspension

Go for it! A perfect combination of forgings, castings and extrusions gives the KX450F‘s new perimeter aluminium alloy frame balanced flex and high-flying lightness. New linkage ratios maximise rear wheel traction, and dual-speed compression adjustment makes the shock easy to tune.

Engine

449 cm³ liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC Single with titanium valves, double valve springs and race-ported cylinder head punches out heaps of hard-hitting power across the rev range – all with plenty of over-rev to let you keep it pinned when others have to shift. It’s easy to start too, thanks to a dual-weight centrifugal compression release.
