HM Plant Honda - Snetterton preview
HM Plant Honda riders Ryuichi Kiyonari, Karl Harris and John
McGuinness head to Snetterton circuit this weekend (17/18 June) for
round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship and rounds
five and six of the National Superstock Championship.
Japanese
rider Kiyonari, who scored an impressive victory at Mallory Park two
weeks ago, will be looking for his third win of the season at the
Norfolk venue where he is the current lap record holder. Kiyonari has
recently returned from Japan, where he and fellow team mate Yuki
Takahashi won the Suzuka 300km race for Honda, and will be eager to
continue in his winning ways aboard his Michelin-shod Honda CBR1000RR
Fireblade.
Team mate Karl Harris, who currently lies in fourth
position in the ever-competitive British Championship, will also be
eager to seek out his elusive first British Superbike victory. So far
this season, the Sheffield-based rider has visited the BSB rostrum on
three occasions but has yet to make it to the top step despite some
inspired riding from 25-year-old.
Meanwhile a victorious John
McGuinness is also keen to get back on track, albeit a shorter one,
after his three record-breaking victories at the 37.73-mile Isle of Man
TT course. The Morecambe-based rider won the Superbike, Supersport and
the Senior TT races at the Festival and hopes that his winning ways
remain with him as he lines up for a double-header programme of
Superstock race action.
Ryuichi Kiyonari: “I
enjoy racing at Snetterton and at the moment everything is going very
well, so I will be looking for some more victories this weekend. It is
a good, fast track and I’m confident that we will have some strong
results this weekend.”
Karl Harris: “I am more determined than ever to get
that win and there is no reason why we can’t do it this weekend. We
tested here back in March, although it was really cold, but both Kiyo
and I topped the timesheets and we will be aiming to do exactly the
same this weekend.”
John McGuinness: “To be
honest the TT hasn’t really sunk in yet; it was two glorious weeks and
now I’m really fired up for Snetterton. Although I haven’t raced the
Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade in the National Superstock series since the
end of April, I have the advantage of having plenty of time on it over
the past two weeks. This weekend I will be looking for my first
Superstock race win to go with my three TT victories.”
Qualifying
for the British Superbike Championship takes place on Saturday 17 June
at 14.45. Race One takes place at 13.15 on Sunday 18 June with race two

17.00 respectively. Rounds five and six take place on Sunday 18 June at
