Mc CONNACHIE RACING TEAM UPDATE

Ben McConnachie furthered his reputation as a young man with a bright future in motorcycle racing with a stirring performance at Oulton Park this weekend (07.07.07). In qualifying he was quickest amongst the ACU Motostar Academy racers and an impressive second fastest overall, behind James Lodge, a top ten runner in the British National Championship. It was a rousing qualifying performance from the likeable fifteen year old Chesterfield rider.

In the first race, Ben won the MotoStar Cup race by a comfortable margin and finished third overall, beaten only by the Lodge brothers, with Ben securing the final podium position.

The second race of the day was all between Ben and Jay Lewis battling it out at the front. Ben had just overtaken Jay Lewis and looked good for an overall win when he clipped a rumble strip and went down. Fortunately Ben was uninjured and there was little damage to his bike.

Ben’s dad, former Grand Prix winner Ian McConnachie says:

“Ben has exceeded all expectations in his first year in the 125GP class and consequently is being held back by the age of his machinery more than we thought he would. A big thank you to Ben’s latest sponsor Fuchs oil, their Silkolene Pro 2 Racing oil is superb and will help us squeeze maximum horsepower and reliability from the bike.

Chris Morley of FSSA says:

“Ben is attracting increasing interest now and it is likely that with a few more performances like this, he will get the sponsorship required to run a new bike in the British Championship next year.”
