HONDA READY FOR PENULTIMATE MAXXIS BRITISH MOTOCROSS ROUND
Honda
Racing’s British Motocross riders line-up for the penultimate round of the
Maxxis British Motocross Championship at the Wakes Colne track, Colchester this Sunday (13 August).
Current series leader CAS Honda’s Ken DeDycker will be looking to consolidate
his lead of the championship ahead of the final round next month. DeDycker has,
so far this season put in some excellent performances with the only real
challenge coming from his team mate Josh Coppins who, since his return from
injury two meetings ago has dominated proceedings with four consecutive wins.
DeDycker is currently 45 points clear of his nearest rival RWJ Honda rider
James Noble, an advantage he will be looking to increase this weekend.
However, his team mate, sixth placed Josh Coppins, will clearly be man to watch
at the Essex venue and although mathematically
no threat the Belgian’s title chase he will certainly have a strong influence
on the meeting at the Halstead and District Motor Cycle club.
Wulfsport Honda’s Gordon Crockard and PAR Honda’s Mark Jones currently occupy
third and fourth places in the overall Championship standings and with only ten
points separating the duo they are sure to be battling it out for every last
point. Last time out, Crockard put in two excellent performances with a fourth
and second place finish and will be hoping for his first Maxxis British
Motocross win of the season in the penultimate round, while Jones will be
hoping for a reversal in fortunes this weekend after he was forced to retire
from the second moto on the opening lap last time out.
Meanwhile, in the two MX2 fixtures four of Honda Racing’s competitors, Wayne
Smith, Jason Dougan, Shaun Simpson and Scott Probert will also be in action and
looking to make an impression in the ever-competitive class to maximise their
points haul.
Roger Harvey, Honda Off-Road Manager: “There is everything to play for
this weekend, with another sixty points in the offing both the classes are far
from decided and the riders have everything to fight for so once again some
excellent motocross action is guaranteed.”
