MARC RAMSBOTHAM NAMED AS RIDER KILLED DURING SENIOR TT

marc_ramsbothamThe organisers of the Isle of Man TT Races, the Manx Motor Cycle Club Limited, can confirm that Marc Ramsbotham, 34, has died from injuries sustained in the Senior race on Friday 8th June 2007. He was involved in an incident at the 26th milestone on the mountain and was confirmed dead at the scene.

Mr Ramsbotham, from Norfolk, was a TT newcomer. He was married and was an HGV driver and plant fitter as well as being a professional road racer.

The incident at the 26th milestone also involved four other people. Dean Adrian Jacob, 33, a security engineer from Kidderminster who was confirmed dead at the scene. Gregory John Kenzig, 52, a retired engineer from Queensland, Australia was confirmed dead after admission at Nobles hospital.

Two marshals, Mrs Hilary Beryl Musson, 60 , from Ballaugh, Isle of Man and Ms Janice Ann Phillips, 50, from Ramsey, Isle of Man were also involved in the incident. Phillips is described as stable. Musson’s condition is reported as critical.

The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.

Adrian Earnshaw, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, Isle of Man government commented: “Marc was a hugely popular figure in the paddock and will be greatly missed. We’d like to extend our deepest sympathy to Marc’s family as well as the families of the spectators and marshals involved in this tragic accident.”

A statement from the Manx Motorcycle Club, organisers of the Isle of Man TT, has confirmed that Hilary Musson of Ballaugh and Janice Philips of Ramsey were injured in the incident which killed the rider Marc Ramsbotham at the 26th Milestone.

It has also been confirmed that the two spectators killed in the incident were Dean Jacob from Kidderminster and Gregory Kensick from Queensland Australia.

I was actually watching this race from a different location and the news of the accident was a huge shock to all on the Island at the time. All at the Biker Cafe would like to extend our deepest sympathies to everyone involved in this tragic incident.
