LACONI EIGHTH IN RACE TWO
Valencia, Spain, 15 April 2007 - Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki
Corse Ninja ZX-10R) overcame the difficulty of a fourth row start to
score an eighth place in the second Valencia Superbike race, and
improve one place in his overall championship ranking.
He had finished 11th in race one, and his two good points scores, from
a fourth row start each time, put him 10th in the rankings now.
An
unlucky raceday homecoming for his team-mate Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1
Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) saw him fail to finish twice, slipping off
in race one and retiring in race two after running off the circuit.
In
race one Nieto, who had worked himself into a good position after the
early laps, fell on the tricky track conditions, while Laconi’s good
start to race one ended when he collided with another rider and lost
places to the faster group.
Regis Laconi: “I made a good start
to race two, and I was happy because I was taking the rhythm of the
guys in the front. I think eighth today was good after a tough
qualifying, but want even better results. In race one I touched
together with Max after a slow start and I lost four places.”
Fonsi
Nieto: “I really wanted to do better in this circuit. I can’t start
from 14th and make two no scores in races. We need to make changes
before Assen. We have to try something to make a good direction because
I had three laps today and the tyres were finished. Now it’s time to
work harder and harder and to stay together to be able to leave behind
this negative period.”
