NIETO AND LACONI IN THE VALENCIA TEST TOP TEN
Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) finished the
two day FGSport tests at Valencia in a creditable seventh place, after
high winds in the final session stopped him improving on his previous
best time of 1'35.410, set in the cooler but calmer session on Monday
morning.
Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) experienced similar
issues to Nieto in the last session, but forced himself to take a
chance to improve his best lap time, and ended up tenth quickest, with
a 1’35.639, set near the end.
Laconi
and the team worked particularly hard on day one to provide the
Frenchman with an alternative setup, reducing the overall ride-height
of his machine, so that he could make back-to-back tests with his
regular base setting, in readiness for the Valencia race on April 15.
}Fonsi
Nieto:“I think the wind affected us here even worse than it did in
Australia, so we have to think how to improve that, if we can. I tried
hard to make an improvement in the lap time today but I think we feel
the effects of the wind a bit more than some of the others. It was hard
to know if we have found a set-up for the race, but we went well here
last year, so I am sure we will be in good shape for the race here.
”Regis
Laconi: “It was really difficult in the wind and I find it very hard to
ride in these conditions. Maybe it is me, but I was happy to post a
1’35.6 at the finish because it was difficult to push hard and not get
the time I wanted, just because of the conditions. But things will be
different for the race and I am happy because I know things will be
better then. But first we have Donington and it is a track I really
like.”
